Fagu is a tiny village that rests astride a mountain saddle along the Hindustan Tibet Road. The location gives it a rare range of views that encompass both its northern and southern valleys and the snow-clad peaks of the Greater Himalaya. In the open patches, the valleys hold tiny hamlets, orchards and neatly terraced fields - while the area is covered with forests of deodar (Himalayan cedar) and spruce

The area is covered with apple orchards and forests and there are numerous walk and hike trails.

It is an enjoyable one through thick deodar woods. This is the source of the river Giri Ganga (also called the Giri 7 kms from Kharapathar) that rises just below the Kuppar peak. The river pours its waters into the mighty Yamuna and there is a small graceful shrine at the spot

On the right bank of the river Pabbar, this has the classical temples of Hatkoti, executed in the nagara style are a major attraction. The primary temple is that of Devi Durga in her form of Mahishasuramardini, the slayer of the demon Mahisa who stalked the world in the form of the buffalo and the Devi is locally known a `Hateshwari'.

The Rohru area is covered with apple orchards and forests and there are numerous walk and hike trails. Trout fishing is available on the river Pabbar. Good spots are Seema, Sandasu, Tikri and Dhamwari. Scenic Chirgaon (15 km) also has the trout hatchery.
